2012 Preschool Photos.

The boys had photos at school last week, and while I didn't order any because of we had just got all our portraits, I did order this memory keeper. But it turns out, the photos were so good, especially Ryan's, that I'm going to go ahead and order 5x7s of each. Turns out, they are actually cheaper when placing a re-order than during the original order. Odd.

We celebrated Jason's 9th birthday today with a secret, simple surprise party! This year he just wanted to have 2 friends sleepover and go to The Wow Zone. But since we aren't able to schedule that anytime in the next few weeks, I thru together a party for after school today. I had Becca pick up Jason, then we surprised him when they got here.. He said, "I can't believe you guys did this for me."

Jacques was unable to be in town today. So we took Jason to dinner last night to Famous Daves and they came out and sang with a desert and candles! He was also able to open his gift last night.. a huge 1,254 piece Lego set. He had been talking about it for weeks.. and was convinced he wasn't getting it. But Momma Bear (with a few extra shifts at the Y) came threw..

It's been an amazing nine years.

Twelve Days of 2012

Zachary's already had an ear infection. He was sick for 4 days and on antibiotics.

Ryan started preschool. He has been for 3 days now. He is thriving and loves it.

I love the 5 hours a week to be just me, even though it just flies by. Today I came home, climbed back in bed with a book, coffee and season two Tru Blood.

Jason will be 9 next week.

Tomorrow night is Date Night with Dake. We are going to see Mark Walhberg's new flick. I love that man. Jessica is watching the boys. (Side Note: Last time we went out, we got home at 8:30 and Zach was mad because Jessica wouldn't give him cookies, "because it was late at night." Daddy said, "You wouldn't give him cookies? Come on Zach, I'll get you some." And that's how we roll..)

My reading is really sluggish so far this year..

I hate winter. It's cold.

We spent New Years Day at Mall of America. Shopping, Lego land and Nickelodeon Universe.

Ordered Jason's spring soccer uniforms $110 plus enrollment was $185. Ouch.

We had a very Merry Christmas. No traveling. Up early for stockings and presents. Then assembling said presents.. We had lunch out on Christmas Day.. I finished a book, read another.
Life is Good, Busy.

I have rearranged 3 rooms.. I purged a ton of junk, organized toys, totes and everything else.

Today is Dake's 1st day back to work in 10 days. I'm sort of lost without him. Today is also the first day in weeks, that I have no where to be, nothing to do. And I'm rocking yoga pants because of it.

Jason went to Mall of America's Nickelodeon Universe last Friday with a batch of the Y kids. He rode every ride there! Even the biggest, scariest.. SO proud of him.

Other Big News. Last week Jason was having a terrible time with a loose tooth causing him pain. I got him into the dentist, and it was infected, his gums, not the tooth. He had it pulled (We did it with him numb and not knowing.. I knew his fear would be greater if he heard the words "Pulls It" so we said the dentist was "gonna work on it.") But it was awful to see him upset by the pressure of the work. It was BY FAR the hardest mommy moment I've had so far.. When he was done, I told him the dentist pulled it out.. He didn't even know!! The dentist said it was one of those random things. The tooth was perfectly healthy, so she didn't know why his gums got an infection. The Tooth Fairy left him a $20 that night.

Ryan starts preschool January 3rd. He's in Zach's class and I am super nervous for him! I also have them enrolled in preschool for Fall 2012-Spring 2013.. Then they are off to Kindergarten! FYI- I think they are class of 2027.

I'm on my 96th or 97th book of the year.. I'll have the official tally once the year is over.

I am sooooo ready for 2012. Twenty-eleven was great!!

I celebrated my birthday last week with almost 30 guests!! I got a ton of amazing gifts, not to mention, had a TWILIGHT cake..

I'm not sure if I will keep the blog running much longer. Seems like I have less time, less readers.

I didn't send out Christmas cards, but I do have some that I will still mail out with photos for my most favorite families.. and if I have those favorite families addresses.

Jason's 3rd grade class has a field trip to the Minnesota Zoo today up in Minneapolis. Daddy Dake was a chaperone. He put in a pass for the day off and road up on the school bus with all the kids. Look
for photos later.

Jason had soccer evaluations last Sunday for Spring Soccer. He's playing competitive again this next season. He is enrolled in swim lessons over the next 4 weeks and playing basketball, for the 1st time, this January.

Last Saturday, we hosted an "end of the nice weather" BBQ for some friends, coworkers. We had over 35 people here at the house. It was totally organized chaos and such an amazingly nice reminder of how Minnesota has become the best homestead we've had yet.

This Saturday, I am hosting October's Book Club and we are throwing a surprise baby shower too.

On Sunday, I am headed up to Ikea and Mall of America for some recreational shopping.

There are only 29 days till Breaking Dawn hits theaters. I'm so there with my gang of girls.

Book Count for 2011: 75 Read So Far

In 14 days, I'll be in Puerto Rico.

Tomorrow I get to go see the family photos we had taken last week. I am so excited.

Jason has a 4 day weekend. No school tomorrow or Friday.

Ryan is obsessed with pumpkins. We have carved 6 already this week. He uses one jack o' lantern as a night light. (Fake Candle.) He is also drawing them everywhere (in permanent marker on my desk), watching You Tube tutorials on carving, and lugging them around everywhere. (Watch for photos on flickr of his pumpkins..)

Yesterday I had a bad migraine.

I bought Jason the newest Batman Arkham City game, that was released at midnight, tonight for Christmas, but he found it in the bag and is now playing.. so much for that idea.

Zach is thriving in preschool. Hopefully I can get Ryan in soon too.

The twins also need a check up on their iron levels.

UNICEF, the world's leading children's organization, is working toward eliminating this preventable disease.

Just three doses of the tetanus vaccine given to a woman are needed to fully protect her for five years, and her baby for its first two months.

Today I donated 38 vaccines to these women.

The Dake Family Five. Need I say more? I can not tell you how much I love these guys of mine.. It's true. I'm Smitten. Hard. We have not had our photos taken as a family since 2005 and that was with just Jason and at Sears. Uh. Worse than that, the twins have never been photographed, professionally. I contacted Lisa at Elite Photography and set up a session. We went on Monday, and the kids were so great, the weather, not so great. These are the first photos I have seen from the session, and I am in love with them all! I go in next week to view them and put in an order. Can't wait! I love the spontaneous one of Dake, laying one on me, which I was not expecting.. and that Lisa caught me, unposed, giddy and in love... Thursday Thinking.

Right now I am eating plain buffalo chicken dip and drinking a 7up. Since my headache weeks, I have had a taste for 7up, Sprites.

I think a headach is coming now, so I have my contacts out. Less strain on my eyes.

Today I went to Target and only spent $7 bucks.

Yesterday I got 105+ prints from Shutterfly. I made Jason run out to the UPS man.

Today I met two Moms at the mall for play dates with our 5 boys.

I have all THREE boy's Halloween costumes in my carts online. Tomorrow I will hit Checkout! That's sooo ahead of last year : ) And Jason's was $40, but is $23 now, so I was able to add an accessory, gloves, for $6! Still spending less! And the twins' were $20 each or two for $34 with FREE shipping!

No scrapping lately but read 4 or 5 books just last week.

Started a new YA novel today.. The City of Ember.

I pre-ordered Wimpy Kid Book 6 for Jason for Christmas. It's released in November. Total Fan of the Movies, and that Jason is of the books!

I am going tanning (ugh) this month so I am not ghostly white for Puerto Rico, which is in 5 weeks exactly today!

Ryan is drawing pumpkins amazingly, but is a slacker with the potty training. I think he'll be in diapers in college. Fail. Me.

Saturday Jason has THREE soccer games up in The Cities. It's a tournament thing. We are gonna hang with another soccer family there.

October is a busy month for the Dakes. Family Photo Shoot. Hair Cut, Color. Tanning. Soccer. Work. Scouts. Two field trips. Parties. Preschool.

And that's all I got for now..

Two weeks ago, I had a migraine that lasted more than nine days. It was a rough couple weeks. It's hard to be a sick super mom. Especially with three kids. I just wanted to crawl in a hole. I was taking Codeine to get through the days, and Vicodin to make it through the nights. It eventually landed me in the ER for a night. I got fluids via an IV and two different sets of drugs for the pain. But I was back with the doctor 3 days later. I'm still on a beta blocker for preventative measures. I have pills for nausea. It's a Rx that is given before chemo, but its so bad, it usually makes me wanna just vomit more. And Imitrex, which I was on it 2005 and it never worked, but the doctor insisted I have it on hand anyway.

We had been busy with scouts, school and soccer all of September.

On Thursdays, I take Zach to school and meet all my Besties for lattes and play time for the boys.

Puerto Rico is in 37 days.

We celebrated Dake's birthday on Saturday. Cake, balloons and suprises. And while he continues to age yearly, I am still the young beauty he met 11 years ago.

I jogged 3 miles today and 3 yesterday. I hear a 5k calling in late Ocotber. Tonight I hear Icy Hot.

Ryan napped today. Zach did not.

I finished a book yesterday. I finished another today. Tomorrow is Book Club.

That's all I got.

Yesterday we had to take Jason to Shakopee, Minnesota for a soccer game. After, we took the kids to the Scarecrow Festival at an apple orchard and pumpkin patch. We had a blast. Love, love, love the blurry photo. I wanted to take one more, but I had propped the camera on a bench while we were moving on the hay rack ride, Dake was a little nervous so no better shot. Great time, a great family.

Zachary's first day of preschool was September 13th. He loved it and was a "leader in the class." He was the first kid to rush in, get checked in and run to play.. and he was the first kid dismissed! He talked all about "Ms. Kris.." this and "Ms. Kris" that.. They did a Hungry Caterpillar project and he insisted that I take photos of.. I posted a bunch of his first day, and all the kids on flickr so head that way.

Keep Calm and Mom On.

Friday the boys had their three year check ups, at 3.5 years. They each needed 4 immunizations in 3 injections to the thighs. Not fun, but I wasn't present. I let Daddy do the dirty work, while I stood out in the hall then rushed in to save them.

They are both 37" tall but Ryan is a little taller. Ryan is at the 9% percentile where his height is concerned and is at 25% with his weight at 32 lbs.

Zachary is 31 lbs which puts him in the 16% percentile and only at 6% with his weight.

Soooo basically they are runts.

I spoke to the doctor about Ryan's weird obsession with eating items such as chalk, rocks, dirt.. and she suspected he may be anemic and sent both boys down to the lad to have their blood taken.. again, not fun. If you are counting, that's 8 needles.

Ryan went in first with daddy. From the waiting room, Zach and I heard him start to cry after the prick and Zach looks at me, says, "I don't wanna do that." But he did and was a champ.

Ryan feel asleep right away on the drive. I picked up Jason and took him and Zach for ice cream. It was not a pleasant weekend. Ryan had a bad reaction to the shots and was not himself until Sunday afternoon. No fun.

Here it is Tuesday and the results are in, the doctor called me herself. Both boys are anemic. Their blood lacks enough healthy red blood cells, and their iron levels are low. Normal is more than 11 and they are at 7. They will be on a prescription meds given twice a day. There will be a lot of diet change too, including a lot less milk.

In 8 weeks, they will need to have their blood drawn and tested again.

This mom is an upset mess.

Today I got to sleep until 820. When I got up there were fresh blueberry and chocolate chip muffins plus a whole pot of coffee. But the best part was, the dishwasher was already running. Nice Dake.

I stayed in my pajamas till noon..

I spent the day doing a 1000 piece puzzle. Dake added in 2 or 3 pieces.

I sent Dake and Jason backpack, lunch box shopping. We haven't got school supplies yet because Jason doesn't start until September 8th, but I didn't want all the backpacks to be picked over. He chose a really nice, big kid blue one and a very functional lunch box. Great Job, Jason!

When I wasn't doing the puzzle, I was reading.

I managed to sweep, do another load of dishes, some laundry and everyday tasks, but I didn't push myself. I mean, hey, it's Sunday.

The boys spent a lot of time outside today too.

Jacques cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice Dake!

I got Ryan down for a nap, Zach went down with Dake.

And now that 4 boys are all bathed, it's movie time. We watched the A Team. Hello, Abs on Cooper! Nice.

Road Trip Recap.

I spent all of last week in Kansas with my Grandmother. It's a 9 hour 4 minute drive from my doorstep to hers. I made 3 quick stops each way. It was a pretty simple drive both ways, the quieter of the two trips, was the ride home. (See Above.)

I celebrated Uncle Paul's 55th birthday with him. I bought the cake. It cost me $17.99.

I spent an evening in Tescott with Uncle Larry and Aunt Pam. The boys were roudy. Shocking.

We visited Franklin cemetery, where 98% of my relatives, from both sides and 5-6 generations back, are buried. It's, perhaps, were I will spend my days six feet under.

I visited Aunt Janie and Grandma Lee too.

Bell showed up at Grandma's house too. We cut up for hours.

I met up with the Lewis Clan for some Hong Kong Buffett. It was delious, but I did not have any squid. Plus Lewis picked up the tab, thanks.

It cost me $120 in gas each way. Ouch.

I didn't get but 13 pages read my whole trip. The boys got 2 new tee shirts each.

I spent a couple hours with Mom and Shelby here and there.

I saw an ex high school boyfriend. He has aged. I have not.

Grandma sent me home with a bunch of 1000+ piece puzzles. I already have one going.

I pulled over in Missouri at a year round fireworks store and bought $40 in smoke bombs for the boys.

Dake missed me. A lot.

We ate at Sonic too. Twice. I miss Sonic.

There was no Wi Fi at Grandma's. When we got home, Jason told his dad, "Kansas doesn't have the wi fi." He was lost without his itouch connection.

Today a friend of mine was like, "It's so weird that after 11 years the two of you are always making out and touchy feely all the time." It's totally true too! Zachary rode Jason's dirt bike last night for the first time! We had bought it with a training wheel kit, for the babies. Daddy put it on yesterday, and off Zach went. Last night was a momm's night out for me & kittelson. We made plans for a winery in Janesville, Minnesota, just a short 20 minute drive. We both got dressed up and made a date out of it, hitting the Olive Garden after for dinner. We tasted 6 wines, and luckily, we beat the weather back to Mankato. I may take a job at the winery this fall, and I am definitely down for the upcoming grape stomping. And here is my new Coach! More photos up on flickr. Happy Saturday. Yesterday Ryan & Zachary napped at the same time! It was amazing. I did a bunch of scrapping, a couple are from the day before. And I love that they are super current photos. I feel ahead of the game. Today I will slide them in the appropriate albums and try to do some more. Last night I need a few supplies so I asked the kids if they wanted to go to Office Max, Michaels and top of the night with McDs and a movie, because Dad was gone. They thought that'd be alright. We were done and home in just an hour. Zachary was up till 1030 and I was not a happy momma. I laid in bed till 100 trying to fall asleep. Thank goodness for the Facebook app on my phone.

Wisconsin Part Two: Alligator Alley.

This was a side attraction we stopped at after endless hours spent in chlorine. It was my fave because I am a huge reptile lover, as long as they are behind glass. And we got to feed them! I'll post a video next of that. Ryan loves animals, Jason too. He was rambeling off facts about most of the animals, and I was like, "No way!" Zach ran thru the exhibit, with me trailing way behind for photos. We saw two headed turtles, a two headed snake, some rather large snakes, weighing in at 343 pounds and 24 feet long, an albino gator and a bunch of other great stuff too. I'll post most of the animal photos on flickr, so check them out.

Wisconsin Part One: The Waterpark.

We spent 3 days this week in Wisconsin at The Great Wolf Lodge. We made reservations back in April. The kids were water bugs for hours on end, then we'd break and start all over again. Jason was 48" exactly and able to ride all the slides. Even the scary tornado slide that drops you 6 stories then whirls you around back and forth for 30 feet. Even I was smart enough to say no to that ride, but Jordyn, Jason and Jacuqes all went down together. The longest of the slides was 443 feet and a blast. I'll post more photos on flickr too..

My 1st MLB Game.

My Girl Tribe and I went to a Twins game a couple weeks ago. We bought tickets back in April and had been patiently waiting for our day out. I had never seen a major league game, and it was on my Life To Do List. We spent the day up in The Cities, and at Mall of America shopping. It rained a little through the game, Twins Vs. San Diego, but no worries, we had our $8 Twins ponchos. I had been planning on getting a foam finger since we first decided to go and it was a hit.I also refused to see the game without a beer, an $8.00 beer, but damn, it was good. The first pitch was at 6:10 and before that a WW2 Vet, who was celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary, raised the flags. There was also a proposal on the Big Screen. She said yes, but hell, I would of too, seeing the size of that rock! Amazingly the Twins actually won the game, making it an even better experience. We got home around 1030 that night. I am hooked on going to the games now. Next up, I'd like to get Jason up there. More photos on flickr of the game.

These robin's eggs I have been watching for a few weeks. On Sunday, three of the four hatched. These are the first photos. On Monday, the fourth egg hatched and I have more photos to share of him too. I will continue monitoring these little puffballs as long as they are here. Yesterday was Jason's yearly check up with the eye doctor. Surprisingly to me, he didn't do well with the nearsighted-ness. The doctor said that because Jason spends lots of time drawing or reading, that his eyes have adjusted to using them for close up purposes. But then that the eyes are worse when needing to see far off objects. He's prescription is very mild and as of now, he will only need to wear them at school and or when he needs to see far away, like at the theater. The doctor doesn't want him wearing them more than necessary because it will weaken his good eyesight and worsen the poor eyesight further. This is just a quick photo of the frame that he chose for himself. (We didn't get them from the eye doctor because the optical department closed before we were done with his appointment. Afterward we went to Walmart for milk and stopped in there optical center.) He chose a great frame, at a great easily replaceable price. These are going to be a great starter pair for such a handsome dude. Momma loves you Jason! Look for better photos on or around June 6 when the glasses will be in.

This past weekend I was cleaning up my studio shelves and took some time to flip thru some older albums. Whenever I slow down enough to go down memory lane, I skip several heartbeats at those photos, layouts and journaling. I remember those photos and events. I love that I brought them to life for me, and later my kids, buy scrapbooking them.. just some glue, dates and they take on something special.

Then it brings on the itchy hives of guilt and the last few months, and then the few months before that, where I gave up on saving those memories in scrapbook pages. It makes me feel awful to see just how few pages there are of the twins in the newer albums. Not to mention, the hubby is always randomly browsing my album (which I love) and commenting that I need to keep up with the hobby, as much as I can, for the family, along with my other pom-pom yielding cheerleader, on the scrapbook sidelines, B. Lewis. Love you guys!

All that mushy-ness, took me (and the hubby, along with his wallet) to Hobby Lobby 3 times this weekend. I only bought some new solid papers, and a new album for 2011. Everything was half off! I keep the pages organized by year. After all that shopping, I came home and put 3 pages, updated a few older albums, made the summer mini and set aside 2 smaller mini albums (like the summer one) to work on too.

Both boys are napping, I get to blog.

Easter. Still need to post photos here, but they are all on flickr. Did you see the videos? When the Easter egg hunt was over, Zachary sat down with his basket and with Ryan's basket. He'd take an egg from Ryan's basket, open it over his, dropping the candy in his, then pitch the empty, broken egg back into Ryan's basket.

Ryan is in love with bees right now. We have a whole bunch of bee hives down the road, and we have to drive past them everyday now, multiple times. Even though it is not on our way home. We also rented Bee Movie for him, but he's only watched the first half. He loves watching real life bee videos via You Tube on the ipad... and bowling.

This weekend was a library book sale. I spent $8 and got 16 books. Famous authors, well known books. My biggest score was The Clan of the Cave Bear book 1-5 for .50 each. They retail at $24.95 each still. Score.

I saw Water for Elephants yesterday.. It's an amazing book and a really good movie.

Friday Jason lost his 8th tooth and went on a field trip to the planetarium.

Saturday I took the boys swimming.

Sunday we took Jason shoe shopping. I bought a pair as well. It's not like I wasn't gonna take advantage of a BOGO sale. I also got a really nice swimsuit. I have been wearing the same one for the last 5 years, a maternity one I wore while pregnant with the twins, and continued wearing even though I have lost over 35 pounds. I really needed a new one, and with a waterpark summer vacation, Puerto Rico and Vegas in the fall, it's about time I did get one.

Thursday All Before Eleven.

I was up with Zach, who had a coughing fit, before 6:00 this morning.

I have read 120+ pages in my book, leaving 66 pages to go.

I went through 3 totes of Jason's old clothes for the twins, got out what they could wear now, and packed 2 full again of bigger sizes. I organized their dressers, hung up clothes and got summer wear labeled and in a box ready to pull out.

I cleaned up the ~~I pitch everything in here~~ spare room.

I have a trash bag, a box of clothes, and a large bag of toys to donate today.

I have a load of laundry going, the shades up, and a clean office with clutter free shelves.

I have a batch of shirts ready for Jacques to iron and a lot of caffeine in my booty.

And it was all done before eleven. Go, Thursday! I love you.

Zachary- Love cooking with daddy. Wears snow boots 24/7, even when naked. He tells me "my tonsils are coughing." Rocks a Wii and an Xbox. He even plays Live and wins against another 4 guys. He's the least impressed with Lincoln out of all the boys. He loves Tootsie Rolls and eats 3 every time he is aloud just one. He also says, "You make me cry" while he cries. He may be a slight hypochondriac, as he will say,"I need a doctor. I need medicine. I need a cast." all in the same sentence. He is not the best listener and he hogs the bed, but I still think he is the best thing since peanut butter on pancakes.

Ryan- Loves puzzles, big ones with 25-60 pieces. He loves Thomas and all the trains, including the videos. (Thank you Netflix Instant!) He is great with Play Dough and has a vivid imagination. He spends a lot of time drawing pictures, usually of Stay Puft, Trains and bees, or bugs now. He is always asking for paper and pens. He is the most in love with Lincoln, and Lincoln is all about that love. He loves Spongebob. He is an earlier riser and goes to bed at 800. He does not drink soda or sweets, only white milk. He is tall, heavy and has a crazy head of hair. But unlike his father, at least he has some.

Jason- Was the VIP of his class this week. He lost his 7th tooth earlier this month. The Tooth Fairy left him a $20 bill. He is a picky eater, and is skin and bones. He is finally able to get his dirt bike out again after a long winter. He got a haircut yesterday, and never wears shirts around the house. He is currently loving Halo toys, Call of Duty. He loves Ghostbusters and both his brothers. He had his very first sleepovers just this year. He is still always drawing and reading. I think his mother is his favorite parent, but I'm just guessing here.

Mandy- I am working 3 days a week, currently reading my 35th novel for 2011, Wuthering Heights. I have read 2 unpublished novels (that will be published later this year) to rate and review my thoughts on. I have another "advanced copy" coming in the next weeks to read. I am working hard with Zachary on the potty training, and Ryan shows some interest, but has yet to tinkle in the potty. I am watching Lost Season 5 and Dexter Season 3. Tomorrow, I'll be up early for groceries. I wore my good gym shoes outdoors this week, when the family went on a 2.5 mile walk, thinking I wouldn't have to go to the gym until this fall, and by then, I'd need a new pair of running shoes. Unfortunately, the weather is yucky again. Thanks, Minnesota.

Dake- Is a great father, chef and busy soldier. He will be outta town next week for 3 days, and nights. Then again in a couple weeks. He's been working on tilling the garden for this year and adding gravel to our slush of a driveway. He is currently not reading anything, shocking, I know. He prefers "waiting for the movie." He and Zachary constantly fight over whose turn it is on the xbox, and I think he drinks too much hot chocolate from Caribou Coffee. He makes me laugh and I poke at him with a stick. Last week he woke me up to tell me the coffee was done. I explained to him that I need coffee when I wake up, not that I need to be woken up for it.

We spent all weekend outside. It was warm, sunny and snowless! I also shut off the heater (for about 6 hours) for the first time since September. Shocking! We worked getting the garden ready, and some branches cleared from the yard. The boys were covered in mud and tracked a significant amount in the house. Laundry was black, so was the tub. In the 3rd photo of Ryan, he is saying, "Worm all gone."

Zachary: "Can I have a pop ice?" Me: "No." Zachary: "But they make me happy." It was so cute, I give in. Then he asks for another, and I say no. Then he tries to play his "happy" card again. I tell him that only works once. Then he says, "But I need a big tummy like you."

Me: "I cooked 3 meals this week!" Jacques: "That's more than you cooked our entire first year of marriage."

Tuesday the boys had their very first check up with a dentist. They did great. Zach was the perfect patient and performed all the tasks on command. Ryan didn't really want anything to do with it, but they still got his teeth cleaned and checked. They got stickers, floss and new toothbrushes. And on the drive home, both boys managed to get all of their floss unwoun, in the van. It looks like my van met the Tooth Fairy.

When I take Ryan's photo, he says, "thank you mom." I drove around Jason's school twice so I could wave at him. I worked 8-1130. The twins and I came home forlunch and naps. I had to wake them both up at 220 to go get Jason. I watched some 90210 from 1998. Jason and Zach played some Xbox and Wii, but mostly they wasted their game time fighting over it. The boys and I painted. I have 4 projects going on in my head. I hope to share some of them this weekend. I didn't read at all today. I need to email Julie. Photos are all from today.

Tomorrow. Jason's off to school at 800 and the twins and I are off to Walmart. I also have a library book to pick up, and drop off. I'd like to run to Target too, but 3 stops with two 3 year olds is pushing it. The hubby gets home tomorrow too. He's been gone since Tuesday morning.

Thirteen Things on Thursday.

1. Ryan and Zach took, at the same time, 3 hours and 20 minute naps today.

2. I sat on my butt and watched 4 episodes of Dexter.

3. I read today that boxers have a 6-8 year life span. Lincoln is now 2 and that already scares me.

4. I am on my 17th book of the year already. Yes, I am counting.

5. I have a donation for Clean The World, a non-profit child life saving organization, sitting here ready to be mailed. Because even though Jacques and I have a lot going on if life, there are others who are way worse off than us. Donating makes a difference.

6. I put in over 22 miles at the gym in just 3 days so far this week. I have been up at 435 a.m. and getting there at 5 when they open. I get in an hour and a half before my day even starts. It's amazing.

7. I have a Bieber ringtone. So call me.

8. Jason has a dentist appointment next week for his sealants. The twins have their first check ups in March.

9. There are 258 days till Puerto Rico and 273 till Breaking Dawn.

10. I am already packed.

11. I was once almost bitten by a rattlesnake as a child. I still have the rattles in my baby book. My mom thought they would be an amazing souvenir, I concur. Cause to this day, I'm still talking about them!

12. Lewis has an amazingly cute grand-daughter, that I may eventually abduct. He's a lucky one.

13. It's good we have a handsome dog. I'm not sure I could own a mutt that's not photogenic or patient for the camera. It's how I feel about the children too.

Yesterday I bought my plane ticket to Puerto Rico. I will be here in November. So will Bell and her Groom.

I love this book stand and would color cordinate the books by color. The photo is from How About Orange blog. But the stand is $188 bucks, way more than I would ever spend on a shelf.

The Last Day of January.

Two of my boys had holes is in their socks this morning.

I read a total of 9 books in January. That's the highest I've ever read in just 31 days.

The next book I am reading is The Giver a Newberry Medal winner in Junior Fiction.

I am also doing a Lazy Man's Triathlon at the Ymca. We have 5 weeks to run/walk 26.5 miles, bike 112 miles and swim 2.5 miles. I am getting up at 445 3-5 times a week to hit the gym.

I have signed up for a 5k run in April.

There is too much snow in Minnesota.

Zachary is doing well wearing underwear around the house. Last week we went to get Jason from school and he stayed dry too.

I have an order of prints in my cart on Shutterfly. I have a coupon for 200 free prints.

I need to email Aimee.

I have 8 library books that need read, not to mention my own personal stack of books.

Saturday, we had our first book club meeting. Only 4 of us attended, but 7 could of made it day later. Next month we are reading a non-fiction and I am hosting the meeting. And supplying the wine.

We watched Despicable Me this weekend as a family. It was super cute.

Jacques made me turn off New Moon.. then he turned on Halo. It's fun to hear him and Zachary, a 3 year old, fighting over the remote and whose turn it is.

I use 5 Arby's sauces with my Arby's meal.

I haven't read in 3 days.

I can't read when I am sick or with a headache.

I emailed Aimee and Julie today.

The twins have not been out of the house since Tuesday at 2:45. I have no plans to get them out today or tomorrow either. There's been a lot of Clorox and cartoons here.

I have not been out of the house since Thursday night. I was in my sweats, at work and got sick with a fever and puking all over.

Today I will run out to the library and for a latte..

My feet are freezing 96% of the time here.

I ordered Jason another 3 pairs of jeans today. He keeps shooting out the knees. Maybe I should be buying jeans from Sears because I think they actually replace blown out knees in kids clothes.

Note to Self: Check into that.

Ryan is currently sleeping. Zachary is playing Ghostbusters on Wii and Daddy is playing Halo on Xbox.

I sold one of my Blythes. She goes out the door on Monday.

I'm burping broccoli.

Both boys are sick and have been since Tuesday night. Fevers. Vomit. The usual. And the hubby has been out of town since Tuesday morning too.

Thankfully a co-worker, Becca, has brought groceries and taken Jason to school today. I kept him home yesterday just to rest. I'll be shocked if he doesn't catch this.

Last night, I let the boys eat a bowl of snow, thinking it'd be a great way to push liquids. Jason then said, "It's like we are eating Frosted Flakes.. Literally." What a smartie.. Goof.

Books. You may have noticed, or not that I did not set a specific number for a goal to read this year. Last year, over the last few months, it became about pushing myself and that number higher. (I read 78 total.) This year I don't want that. Plus I figure if I can read anywhere between 38-78 books in a year, that's still amazing. This year I am also starting out with a To Do List of books on my shelf that need to be read first, before I buy/checkout anymore. That list has 15 on it and I already have 2 down. This will also be the year of the harder reads. Some longer and tougher books.. On that list is Gone with the Wind 1400+ pages, The Kite Runner (On Afghanistan) and some large classics Anna Karina by Tolstoy with 960 pgs, and Madame Bovary.

I ordered Jason's birthday present yesterday and paid $10 for two day shipping. We sent out 11 invitations today and his party is on the 22nd at 11:00 for those that can attend.

I have a Mom's Night Out this Saturday. I need it.

And this week, I cooked a Hamburger Helper Jambalaya. It was great and I added corn to the mix. It was amazing. Try it.

During our 6 day trip in Kansas, I took a total of 222 photos. I kept 181 of the best.

I will post a recap of my Goals for 2010 tomorrow and my new Goals for 2011 on January 1.

Next year, we will not visit Kansas for Christmas. We will stay here in Minnesota and host our own. You are all invited. Please leave the drama at home. Thanks in advance.

This year I gave 3 coffee mugs as gifts, by far my favorite thing to give and receive. Thanks Shawna and Jordyn : ) Love my new pink mug.

I received 2 cookbooks for Christmas. I think there is a hidden meaning here, but I am struggling to find it. Thanks Lewis, Shannon (Obviously you spent a lot of time putting those together for the girls and I. Glad I was included.)

I see that two non-kindle believers joined me on the Dark Side. You know who you are.

Jason got a Dsi-XL three days after Christmas, just because. He also got the No. 1 item from his Christmas Letter to Santa. That man is good ; )

The best gift I received was a DVD of my Grandpa Jim's funeral. The hubby stayed home with the kids and missed the funeral. I am glad to have it to share with him and the boys for years to come.

I got a new cell phone. It's amazing, but huge.

We took the kids to Chuck E Cheese on Tuesday during our travels home. I miss going there more frequently.

I had my first ever library fine.. It was $22 and was due to water damage. Jason dropped it in the snow. The book retail is actually $9 but to avoid a trip to Walmart, I opted to pay the whole fine instead of just replacing the copy. I did "technically" purchase the damaged copy, and it is still readable.

I posted a ton of photos to flickr and Facebook. If you are not on FB, then I do not post of you there, to be polite. All photos on flickr are private.

It's time to think about celebrating Jason's birthday. I will shop online again for all the supplies except I will pick up balloons the day of and the cake, pizza too. He wants to invite 11 kids.

I am on my last book for 2010. I think it's No. 77 or 78.

School is closed for the day due to a massive amount of snow here. The photo of the boys is from this morning 12/16/2010. That's Ryan and Jason. And the great white shark is a drawing by Jason. He is so frickin amazing.. More photos on flickr. Enjoy your day.

Dake Updates.

Wow, did you think I was dead? Nope. Just busy.

It's snowing here, go figure. The kids do not go in the building in the morning before school. They play in the snow. They also have to wear snow pants and the works to school.

I am going to buy myself some snow pants too. While I doubt I wear them often, I should probably own a pair.

Last week when it snowed, the final tally of inches was 18". That's a lot of snow. I also heard today that when we can't find anywhere else to pile the snow, dump trucks come in and take it away. Wow.

I am on book 72 for 2010.

Zachary is one week post op and doing well. This barely slowed him down, but it took me 3 days to feel less exhausted. His prescriptions totaled $568 for 3 bottles. And he is allowed one more bottle at $262. Thankfully, our insurance covered it all but the $3 co pay.

Ryan is amazing and talking so well. He has the best laugh and is my only kid that can entertain himself.

Julie- I am alive and owe you an email.

I need 5 stamps and a gallon of milk.

I will finish up my Christmas shopping this week. I just need a handful of things.

Jason has a Christmas program on Friday at school.

I think that's all I got.

An Update.

A quick update on Zachary... Surgery went well. The adenoids and tonsils are gone. His wake up period was rough, and then he slept for 2+ hours on me in his room. We got home around or after noon. Daddy kept Ryan, visited us quickly and picked up the Rxs.

He has slept almost the whole day away, minus being awake from 4-6. He's slow with the liquids, but ate an oatmeal creme cookie. He's taken 3 doses of meds; Motrin, an antibiotic and pain meds. He's been sleeping on me all day and I was just able to lay him in the bed at 630 ish after his first dose with codeine. I am hoping he sleeps well through the night and that his liquid intake picks up.

I am also hoping tomorrow goes well. Jacques will be back at work, and I will be home alone with both boys. Thanks for all the kind thoughts and chats today. Love you all, M
