first paper work.

Here is my son's first piece of paper from preschool! He got it today. Those are some pretty good letters considering that is the first time he has done that letter. I don't think that he wrote his name because he usually does it much bigger, maybe he had some help with that. I was so emotional about his first piece of work that I rushed home to do this:

Voila! A cute new folder to keep every single piece of paper in! I also added a matching clip with a jump ring to help keep it closed because there are no pockets and I added a file folder sticker with his full name to the tab. So cute! And of course he is four, so I added that. Now all it needs is a date, and I think that will go on the inside. Hope he gets more papers on Friday! later.

i made a difference.

Yep, I made a difference today. I donated blood for the first time. I thought if my grandma could do it, so could I. January is also National Blood Donor month, what a time to start! I totally loved the whole process and FREE cookies! And I got this awesome sticker. So it's official, I'll donate every 56 days now. Next appointment is in March.

Here are some fun facts that I learned today: Type Os make the best presidents and criminals. Al Capone was an O. Someone needs blood every 3 seconds and 1 unit can save up to 3 people. Ronald Regan required 12 units after his assassination attempt. And 95% of all people will need blood, but only 5% of the population donates blood. Just some things to think about.

monday.

My cutie! Just sharing a photo from a week or so ago. I am in such a creative slump right now. I have many things I need and want to work on, but when I set down, nothing happens. So for now, just another photo. Hope you all had a good start to another week. We did. Later.

my new toy.

Okay so here it is! My newest toy. I know what you are thinking. "A scale?" Lame. But this is not just any old scale. This is the mack-daddy of scales. Let me tell you why. This scale does it all. It uses a BIA to measure overall health. The results are analyzed along with gender, age, height and weight for the most accurate at home reading available. Measurements include weight, body fat %, body water %, daily calorie intake, metabolic age, bone mass, muscle mass, physique rating and visceral fat rating! There is a four person memory on it, a healthy range indicator, and a memory. Now that's the bomb! And price? We'll just skip that part. (Ouchh!)

I finally decide that I needed a better scale. I have the old dial one that turns and never gives me a good result. And as most of you know, I have lost 11 pounds and thought to keep going I needed something better to weigh in on.

So now you want the bad news, huh? It's on back order till February 16. Grrrrrrrr!! Oh well, what can you do? Later.

one happy momma.

Wohooooo! I am one happy momma! Today we went to the mall and JCPenny's is having one heck of a sale. I bought Jason 9 pairs of pants and 9 shirts for $27 and total retail was $213! Amazing! Jason even got into it. I told him he had to buy clothes with the number 4 on it, so he was like "Mom, here's a four!" And added it to our over sized pile! He even picked out some faves like Diego, Blues Clues, 2 Sesame Streets, Batman and all sorts of sports ones. The shirts were like .98 cents a piece marked down from $7.99. The cargo pants were $2.48 marked down from $19.99! And the character shirts were $$1.48 marked down from $11.99 each! I am so happy right now.

One more cute thing, Jason picked up a 6 month outfit and I said "Oh that's for a baby." And he said "Maybe we should have a baby and buy this." Too Cute!! But I think a Batman shirt is a much cheaper compromise!! Later.

O is for Outdoors

Just a quick layout that I did yesterday afternoon in between work. Loving it! The scan is okay, but I did notice there is a flaw at the top with the cardstock..but it is from the scanner. I guess I need to clean it off, there is some Staz On, glitter and glue on the scanner bed. Oh well! Later.

cowboy attitude.

And who couldn't love a face like this? What a goof! We went to a pro bull riding event on the 13th and this was the best photo of the night. (And a new personal favorite of mine.) He wore his cowboy hat that has been crumpled every which way, and obviously you can tell that he is annoyed (as usual) with the camera in his face. He enjoyed the whole show and had all the yummies his tummy could handle. And one heck of a cowboy attitude.

I am not sure that he even knows who Robin is but he coundn't care less. Anyway had a good day here. Got some scrappin done and babysat the neighbors kid. Nothing exciting here. Later.

my two boys.

Hey! Got these back today from the photo lab and thought they were some cute dad, son shots. The second one is from the Monster Truck Nationals that we went to on the 5th. And the other is just outside of our house. Too cute!

Not much going on here today. Lots of snow. Daddy took Jason sleding which Jason calls "sleighing." Also spent some time at Barnes and Noble. Then back out into the snow for a snowball fight! Awwwww..what a lazy Sunday!

something new & something altered

Wohoooooo! Okay so, check out the new banner. I know, amazing right? Well that's all thank to my girl, Karla, who hooked me up with this!! She was so sweet and even did all technical posting of the banner. THANK YOU! Thank you! Thank YOU!

And this is an altered blank book that I got at Barnes and Noble and never used, so I spiced it up today. Now I can't wait to use it. I think that I may have gone overboard with the Autumn Leaves Swirls, but that white acrylic paint looks AMAZING on the cover... so I got carried away! Sorry the photo is a little blurry (words wise) I think my digital camera hates me :(

Have a good weekend! I'll still be drooling over my banner. And am scrapping the weekend away. Later.

a good weekend.

Okay so Friday thru Sunday have been wonderful days around here! On Friday I found this pair of LandsEnd snow boots for $5 at a thrift store. Wohooo! But I was over charged at the checkout, so I'll have to take care of that on Tuesday. No Biggie. I also stopped in at Joann's and got a rotary mat for my desk at 50% off.

Then on Saturday we did some Walmart shopping and treated ourselves for lunch at Red Lobster, Yumm! Jason loves eating there. Then Julie and I went to main street and stopped in a scrap store and I only spent $10. Then as we were driving, I just happened to glance over and see a bright pink purse hanging in the window of another 2nd handstore that was a hot pink sling purse. So we pulled over to check it out and it was an Old Navy one for $2. Score!

Later that night we went to a pro bull riding event where we had reserved box seats. Jason was in heaven and loved the show. He wants to ride sheep now. I'll post photos later, I took the 35 mm. Then after the show, the family went home and I went to the dance next door with some friends. Had a blast!

And finally today, we went to Old Navy and they are having a huge sale with 50% extra off all clearance. I bought a total of $215 of clothes for $42.37! I know, crazy huh? I got a bunch of shirts, pants and a hat for Jason and Jacques picked up some things too. Then we walked the mall, took Jason to the arcade and playground, then had lunch. I also got a pair of Skechers boots. The tall tan suede ones marked down from $79 to $34! Then home for some quality snow play and photos. This is from ealier. I had to cropp it cause there was a snowflake on the lens and showed up in the shot. And its a tad blurry. Oh well. Sure there will be more photos tomorrow. The hubby is off for MLK day..Nice. Sorry to yak so much. Later kiddos :)

dake family.

And this just in from the lab. It is of my hubby and kids, taken on Interstate 70 on our way home to Iowa from Kansas on December 26. I have another of this shot that is vertical and maybe I'll post it another time! It was hard to choose. But I am really into not centering my subjects right now, and I am really loving all the results! Kids are 7.5 and almost four. We won't even get into my old mans age! Later.

thomas layouts.

Okay, so is it that obvious that I am raising a boy? Just wanted to share a few Thomas the Train layouts that I just did over the last day. I actually did three layouts in just 1 day! Click on the layouts to see them better! I also posted a bunch of my new work over at 2peas (including 2 more Thomas layouts!) so check out all my latest stuff over there. The link will take you right to my homepage. Later.

beautiful child.

This has turned in to my favorite photo of Jason. I took this shot in November at the UNI campus. (You can see an older post of this shot in the archives.) But this layout is another story. It has been on my scrap table for months and I can't decide if it's finished or if it needs something else. Embellishments? Pattern paper? What do you think? Happy Sunday!

Happy Birthday Shannon!

Happy Birthday to you!! A 1/2 a century. Way to go!! If I was there, I'd help you celebrate by having you make me some mac 'n cheese and no bake cookies. Maybe we could get my lewis to throw some potatos on the grill too. Yummmmm! Just wishing you the best on your big day! Love you and miss you all. Hugs.

Okay so we are headed out to the Monster Truck Nationals in like 5 minutes..There will be a insane amount of testosterone in the building...BUT I am all girled out! That's right! Bright pink nails, pink eyeshadow and gloss, pink shirt, pink winter coat and to top it off the most awesome pair of pink Timberlands ever! I am too much! So Pinkalicious, that's me. Later chicks.

all about her.

I am being "nagged" to post more frequently by some people so I thought I better get on it. Totally just kidding! Wanted to share this mini album anyway. It is a vellum alphabet set that I got at Scrapbook Chic in Salina, Ks (stop in if you are ever there! Love them gals!) made into an All About Me album for Jordyn. I used the letters to relate to things about her right now. Example: S is for seven & second grade, H is for Harley the dog. Then I embellished it with rub-ons, ribbons, and other things. I did it all in pinks. Also added a wallet size photo with journaling on the back and some stamping. I used labels to journal the items..some letters got 3 or 4 words and some (like Q) only got one. Anyway loved how it turned out and so doing one for my son in blue..Later Peeps!

happy new year

Happy New Year Ya'll! A new beginning! I'll tell you, time has never moved faster now that I am a mom. Jason will be four in 16 days and the hubby and I will celebrate our 6th anniversary this year! Hello time, SLOW DOWN!!

Just shot a few photos this morning in the yard. There is like 1 inch or less snow and Jason thinks it's time for snowmen, forts, and snow angels! We did get new Thomas snow boots at Walmart this morning and he loves them! His old ones were way to small. Anywho..I'll post more photos from this morning later, got a bunch of good ones! Later folks..
